cordelia.net Books Rome Short Story Competition 2010
Our 2009 Short Story Competition was a great success and we are happy to announce our 2010 competition. This year we ask short story writers to include Italian food in the story line. Further details below:
  • Entries should be between 1000 and 2000 words long
  • All entries must include Italian food in the story in some way
  • Entries must be emailed to books [at] cordelia.net by midnight Rome time on 31 Oct 2010
  • There are three prizes of Amazon gift certificates:
    First Prize: 100 Euro
    Second Prize: 50 Euro
    Third Prize: 25 Euro
  • There is a 5 Euro entry fee which must be paid through Paypal. Send 5 euro (or equivalent currency) through Paypal to books@cordelia.net and include the PayPal Transaction Number in your email submission.
  • Send your story in an Word or PDF document. Do not include your name or details on the story pages. Send a separate cover sheet with your name and contact.
  • The winners will be announced on this website on 1 Dec 2010
  • Only previously unpublished work should be submitted
  • By entering the competition the author gives cordelia.net Books permission to publish their story on the website
  • The author retains full rights to the story
  • Stories should not contain abusive or offensive language
  • Entries will be judged by the members of the cordelia.net Books community in Rome
  • The judges' decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into regarding the winning entries
  • Winners will be contacted by email and should claim their prize by 31 March 2011

Winners and shortlisted entries 2009 Competition
Entries for the 2009 competition had to include Rome some how in the story. A big thank you to every one who entered. The standard was very high and the judges had a hard time reaching a decision. A big thank you to them for the time and effort. The three winning and four first shortlisted entries have been published in an e-anthology called "7 Stories From Rome" available as an ebook:
