| About cordelia.net Books |
cordelia.net Books was founded in 2008 by Cordelia Salter in response to the many queries she had received from English speaking people living in Rome who wished to publish their work. Below are some of the services we offer:
Traditional book publishing
The traditional book publishing sector is under siege. More and more people are seeking to publish their work and there are more and more ways of distributing books that don't rely on traditional publishers. At the same time it is still considered "top of the tree" to get published by an established publisher.
Most publishers don't accept unsolicited manuscripts and only accept contacts from literary agents. Even then your chances of being published in this way are quite slim - remember that J K Rowling was turned down time and time again until finally a publisher decided to take a chance on her work.
If you wish to offer your work to a traditional publisher we can help you. We can work with you to draw up a short list of the most suitable publishers for your genre. We are familiar with the publishing scene the big English language markets - the UK, the US, Canada, Australia and New Zealand.
We can prepare a package that will pitch you and your work in the way most likely to attract the interest of publishers in the geographic region that most suits you. We charge a small administrative fee to cover the cost of postage both to and from the publisher and the costs of printing.
eBooks
Do you want your work listed on the shelves with the work of Stephen King and Barack Obama? Then why not consider publishing your work electronically. Many people are still resistant to this form of publishing and prefer "a good old fashioned book". Whilst this is true, the epublishing sector is not to be ignored. Devices and technology are catching up fast. Electronic paper and electronic ink are beyond the research and development stage and will soon be affordable on the market. At that point the epublishers will be competing head on with traditional print publishing. Expect a revolution in the same way as the music industry has been turned upside down by the independent music industry.
cordelia.net Books has publishing agreements with Mobipocket and Kindle, both Amazon companies. We can convert your book to electronic format and produce or process any graphics that you need. We can make sure that your book is listed on Amazon and other major internet outlets that sell ebooks. We can also show you how to promote the book yourself by having your own website and blog. Books seldom sell themselves - it's the personality of the author that drives the sales and we can show you how.
Print on Demand
Still not convinced? Still want to see your book in paper and ink? We can help you there too. We have a contract with CreateSpace, the leading print on demand company, also owned by Amazon. We prepare your work for print and send the copy to CreateSpace. Your book is listed in Amazon like any other book and when an order is received CreateSpace print a copy and dispatch it.
The beauty of this system is that there is no wasted paper. Even the best books can be remaindered and are sent off for recycling. By using print on demand books are only printed when they have been ordered. If a book shop agrees to stock your book we can order in bulk from the print on demand service and get a discount.
As with eBooks we can make sure that your book is listed on Amazon and other major internet outlets and show you how to promote the book yourself.
Editing
There are two kinds of editing - conceptual editing and copy editing. Both are essential to ensure your book is a success. We can help you with both. We are in touch with a wide range of editors who deal with different subject matters and can help make sure that your work is ready to be launched on the world.
